Summer.
Fresh food, small festivals.
Singing, dancing, eating, family time.
Warm evenings on blankets of grass.
Watermelon dripping down your chin.
Nights where the air is warm but the ground is cool.
I love summer. This one has been full of family, friends, and getting the most of local events. Every Thursday during the summer, Bountiful’s Main Street has a farmer’s market. Many vendors are set up with crafts, clothing, or food. There were even children who were surprisingly talented at the violin and cello playing throughout the stands. Wandering the stalls, picking out your favorite fruit, sampling local honey. Farmer’s markets are a great way to support your local community and buy organic produce.
Afterwards we attended a concert at the park. Our city recently started a concert series with local artists and families. Tonight’s entertainment was provided by the Alapa family. Every single member of the family was beautiful and fantastic at singing. They also performed a some traditional Polynesian dances and invited people to come dance with them (though mostly children went up). I hope this is a tradition our city will continue!
